Ok just a little curious , my ttr is all standard but it pops / back fires when you rev it up and on over run when riding it, it is worse on the choke but still does it when warned up. ? I am sure a read somewhere it may be due to incorrect fueling? The bike is perfectly rideable and it doesnt bother be whatsoever but I don't want it to cause any damage if it's running lean for instance?

Air leak? Jubilee clip loose or rubber parting from the metal stub on the inlet manifold?

Popping and backfiring is usually indicative of an air leak on the intake side and therefore giving a weak mixture.

Backfiring can also be caused by a leak on the exhaust side although not quite so common.

Well I have checked the clips and the rubber hose and no signs of a leak, I even sprayed some brake cleaner around to see of a small air leak would suck it in but nothing. Maybe should check mixture setting screw on carb?
