Hi Morgan

Good OE tanks are difficult to find. Most are dented or rusted through or both!

I am currently renovating a couple of tanks for my own use and it's not too difficult.

What's the problem with your existing tank?

Brian

Hi Morgan

Welding is a bit extreme for those common "corner" leaks. Plastic Padding's Leak Fix can often be a permanent cure and a whole lot easier and quicker.

Clean the area of rust and petrol/grease, knock the edges of the rusted area in a bit with a small ball pein hammer if you have one (so that the finished filler isn't proud), and put a coat or two of Leak Fix on. When it has gone hard (only about 10 minutes in summer weather) you can rub it down, prime and paint the area.

Go for it Morgan. My mate repaired his tank in the same spot about 5 years ago and it is still holding up despite a lot of battering. Cheap and simple wink

This is the magic potion http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_223933_langId_-1_categoryId_165691

For anyone else whose OE tank hasn't rusted through where it rubs the seat, my suggestion is that you put some tape over the area to protect it asap.
